Sheltering Home (Eridan X Reader)
Violet Candy
Part 5

You yelped and jumped away from the tank. Blinded by the light, you tripped, your head hitting the ground with a sickening thud. A flash of pain raced through your nerves, before all went dark.

When you awoke, you were in bed. A cool rag was on your forehead, helping to dull the pain of your fall a bit. You groaned and struggled to sit up. You blinked at your room, frowning. Everything looked normal, except…

“Eri!” you gasped. You sprang to your feet, ignoring the pounding of your head. The little purple grub wasn’t in his tank and half the water had been spilled. How long had you been out? Did your parents take him away?

You stumbled out of your room, desperate to find Eridan. You barely made it to the living room before falling. Your head was spinning, and your vision was getting blurry. Damn, how hard had you hit your head?

You choked back a sob and curled into a ball, trying to minimize the pain. Your senses were such a mess you didn’t even notice anyone approaching until they had picked you up.

“What the hell are you doing?” a male voice hissed.

You instinctively clung to the man’s neck and whimpered. “Who are you? Where’s Eridan?” you demanded. Your vision was still too blurry for you to see anything, and it was starting to freak you out.

The man sighed and started carrying you back to your room. “I am Eridan, {Name}. I would have thought my appearance would have clued you in to that fact.” He huffed.

You gasped and rubbed your eyes. “That-that’s impossible! Eridan is a cute little grub, not a tall person!” you protested. Your vision was slowly returning, but the figure was still a wash of colors.

‘Eridan’ chuckled. “Of course I was a cute grub. What were you expecting of a seadweller?” he sat you on your bed and knelt in front of you. “Is something wrong with your vision?” he asked.

You bit your lip. You couldn’t tell who this person was, or how they got into your house. The only reason you hadn’t freaked out more than you had already was your pounding head and partial blindness. If you admitted that you couldn’t see worth a damn, who knows what he would do?

You rubbed your eyes again and nodded. “All I can see are blobs of color… I’m sorry.” You whispered. You weren’t sure why you were apologizing – it wasn’t your fault you couldn’t see – but it was kind of instinctive.

Eridan sighed and pulled you into a hug, making you squeak in surprise. “Stupid landdweller, this is why you should have stayed in bed.” He murmured.

You started a bit and hesitantly reached for his head. Your fingers brushed against his horns and you gasped. “You are Eridan!” you breathed.

Eridan snorted. “Obviously.” He quipped.

You squirmed uncomfortably in his embrace, prompting him to let you go. “What happened? How did you… uh, why are you not a grub anymore?” you asked.

Eridan sighed and massaged his temples. “The curse on me was broken. That’s about all there is too it.” He grumbled.

Your vision was clearing, and you found yourself staring into gold and purple eyes. You blinked at Eridan and frowned. He did look a lot like he had when he was a grub, except human shaped. And hot. He was dressed in a pair of your dad’s old pants, which were obviously too big for him.

The fact that you were currently alone in the house with a hot naked guy made you blush. Eridan looked a bit worried and held a hand to your forehead. “Hey, you feeling alright? You’re all red.” He muttered.

You nodded. “I’m fine… I’m just… recovering my sight…” you trailed off and turned your gaze to your knees. It couldn’t be normal to think a grey skinned, candy corn colored horned boy was hot, could it?

Eridan smirked a bit. “Like what you see?” he asked.

You made a face and stumbled to your feet. “No! That would be weird! I mean, until… uh, recently, you were a little grub that I took care of like a baby! It would be so wrong to be attracted to you, that I can’t even explain it!” you claimed.

You didn’t notice Eridan’s hurt expression as you stormed out of the room. You needed aspirin and a conversation with Beth.

You had barely grabbed an aspirin when the doorbell rang. You stifled a groan, swallowed the pill and reluctantly answered the door.

A strange blond girl in a stranger tan and green dress greeted you. “Hi. I just came here to slap Eridan, then I’ll be on my way.” She sang.

She pushed past you and darted to your room without a second glance. You gaped after her, before realizing that you should probably follow her. You grabbed her shoulder, stopping her just before your room.

“H-hey, what’s the big idea?” you demanded.

She smiled sheepishly at you. “Well, you know when you’re watching a show, and these two characters are in love, but they’re both too shy or afraid of rejection to say anything and you just want to slap some sense into them?” she asked.

You raised an eyebrow skeptically, but nodded. You had experienced that feeling many times before, though you weren’t sure what that had to do with her barging into your house.

“Right, well that’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to slap some sense into Eridan, since you’ve already had enough head trauma today. I’ll be out of your hair before you know it.” She assured you.

You let her go, your mind blank. If you understood her correctly, then that would mean that Eridan liked you. But that was impossible, wasn’t it? He had been so moody as a grub and had given you such a hard time… Besides, why would he fall in love with a plain girl like you?

The sound of flesh hitting flesh shocked you out of your reverie and you hurried to your room. Eridan was currently clutching his cheek, a purple hand print fading away slowly. The strange girl was glaring at him and shaking out her hand.

“I didn’t curse you so you to watch you flounder with the girl you like! Man up and confess, then we can talk!” she hissed. She stormed out of the room, pausing in the doorway to smile at you. “By the by, your folks will be here in about three hours. Have fun and be good.” With that, she left.

You stared after her for a moment, confused. So she was the one that had cursed Eridan… but why? You turned towards the seadweller, hoping for an answer. Eridan refused to meet your eyes and sighed.

“That was Mary. She’s a witch. A witch you really don’t want to piss off. You get on her bad side and she’ll curse you without a second thought.” He said.

You crossed your arms and frowned at him. “Eri, what were you talking about? Why did she hit you?” you asked.

Eridan groaned and sank onto your bed. “She was accusing me of being a glubbin’ coward. And you know what? She’s right. I am a coward.” He moaned.

You shrugged and joined him on the bed. "That's ok, I'm not very brave either. Oh, thank you for taking care of me earlier." you said.

Eridan glanced at you and scoffed. "If you want to thank me, you should kiss me." he mumbled teasingly.

You raised an eyebrow. Recalling Mary's strange reason for visiting, you smiled slightly. "As you wish." you whispered, before leaning in and planting a kiss on his lips.

His eyes widened and he kissed back eagerly. When you pulled away for air, he embraced you. "{Name}, do you know how my curse was broken?" he breathed.

You shook your head and tried to control the raging blush that was attempting to take over your face. He grinned down at you and cupped your cheek with his cool hand.

"I had to fall in love." he stated, before crushing his lips against yours once again.
Did you know that the part of the brain that controls vision is at the back of the head, and if you bruise it you can loose your vision for a few days? Luckily Reader-chan didn't bruise her brain like that.

I think this is the cheesiest thing I have ever written. I'm not sure if I'm sorry.
